Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant believes an authentic, high quality dish begins with the best ingredients.

That’s why Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant in Irvington, New Jersey is the only kitchen in the area where customers can get information about the way the Chinese food is prepared and the ingredients that are used.

The restaurant serves many dishes, including Orange Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, Szechuan dishes, Kung Fu Bruce Lee chicken wings and the popular General Tso’s Chicken.

General Tso’s Chicken is a sweet, slightly spicy, deep-fried chicken dish that is popular Chinese dish in America. Though it is named after a Qing Dynasty general, there is no known connection to the statesman. The dish gained popularity in the late 1940s when chefs brought it to the United States.

Only take-out and delivery are available; there is no dine in seating. Delivery and take-out is available in Maplewood and Newark.

Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant also believes in giving back to the community.

The restaurant helps the homeless on a regular basis and it also hosts a contest in which customers who design the most creative take out box win prizes. The winners are chosen on Thanksgiving. First place winner receives an iPad and second place winner receives and mp3 player.
